Marguerite Seip (aka Missy Lektro aka DJ Margaritaville) is 26 years old and lived in Corpus Christi TX most of her life. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2001 to attend the University (UT). In May of 2005, she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Radio/Television/Film. After her graduation she was off to London for three months where she went to school at Point Blank Music College. She took the full DJ course load and became one of Point Blank’s star students. When she wasn’t utilizing the school’s DJ equipment during her free practice time on the weekdays, she went to record stores and clubs and even maintained a residency at the Matt and Matt Bar in North London.
Marguerite became exposed to London's breakbeat scene and saw the likes of Adam Freeland, Plump DJs, and Atomic Hooligan at the popular London club Fabric. She also learned the basics of scratching and beat juggling and hopes to eventually incorporate elements of these techniques into her live sets. She also became further exposed to electro and electro-house. Some of her current favorite electro artists are Tiefschwarz, Tiga, Freeform Five, and Ladytron. Two weeks after returning from London, she was given the opportunity to play at a local Austin club called the Light Bar and became their resident Saturday night DJ for six months. Since then, she has played at other local clubs like Latitude 30, Plush, Ego’s, Terrace 59, Headhunters, and One 2 One and is now producing her own music using Ableton Live.
Recently, Marguerite has started her own record label, Kardiac Records, with her partner Hector (aka The Outsider). Although they are still getting the label off the ground, with perseverance and dedication, they hope to be a positive force in their regional, and eventually global, EDM community.
Although Missy LeKtro has only been djing in clubs for a couple of years, her training and experience in several genres of electronic music (hip-hop, house, techno, breaks, electro, progressive, tribal) is portrayed in her versatile track selection. “…The music that I prefer to play is electro-house, break beat, funky house, tech house , some progressive, and whatever I think sounds good and feel the crowd that I am playing for will also enjoy...”
