Music Glue - The Band Is The Brand

Marky D

Marky D is an Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist. Originally from the Philippines, he migrated with his family in 1988 and currently resides in Sydney.

Exposed to music at a young age, he was given piano lessons by his Auntie Nora, a credited music teacher from his hometown of Albury. But it was during the early years of high school when he found a true love for the guitar and has not dropped the instrument ever since.

Marky D is a self-taught musician and he later taught himself to sing and write his own songs. His songs have an acoustic, bluesy quality, lyrical-mystery, artistic yet mainstream appeal. Influenced by such artists as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richie Sambora, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi and Jeff Buckley, a lot of his inspiration also stem from movies, books, dreams and all of life's other experiences.

Marky D has performed live on radio and television, including a music video that appeared on ABC's "Rage" program. He has also performed his original songs in the Philippines and America. He is an aspiring producer with an Advanced Diploma in Audio Engineering, and released his first 3-track demo on May 2009 titled "Save It For A Rainy Day" which he
produced entirely and can be purchased on iTunes and other online stores. The title track was exposed on national radio with a live acoustic solo performance. The second track, "All That Jazz" acquired national airplay.

Marky D also founded Sydney cover band, Nathan's Place and they are currently performing live.
