Marakesh are one of the leading alternative rock bands in Ukraine, formed in 2006.
The band mentions Placebo (whose show they opened in 2010), Muse and Radiohead as their main influences, combining rock with electronica and charismatic vocals.

They're notable for gathering a significant following without major investing or record label and are one of the pioneers of internet self-promotion in their area.

Marakesh's song Jdat appeared in the GTA 4 video-game soundtrack, resulting in over 130 thousands official and over 100 thousands unofficial views of its music video.

To date, the band has released 2 full-length albums. The singles appeared in the School series, aired on Channel One, a TV-channel with the widest reception area in Russia.

They regularly tour across Ukraine, Russia and Europe. Also the band is well experienced in open air festivals to include: Opening for Placebo 2010 (UA), Nokia OVI 2010 (UA), MTV EMA local 2009 (UA), Okna Otkroy 2009 (RU), ICWiP 2009 (HU), Kertem 2009 (HU).

The band was nominated for Russian music awards FUZZ 2008, RAMP 2007, 2008, 2009.

In 2010, Marakesh expanded their horizons, going on the European tour and recording a fully English-speaking EP in Budapest, Hungary.
