Mads Langer was smitten by the music bug before he could take his first step. A piano adorned his childhood home in a tiny town, far to the west of the big city. But it wasn't just the ebony & ivory of the decor that fascinated him, there was also his fathers vast record collection that lured Mads like a siren well before he took his first shaky step. ”I knew from the start that music would be a vital element in my life, so it was a culmination of many years of toil when my first single hit the airwaves,” says Mads, referring to the single ”Breaking News.” The song jumped right into the bellwether radio station P3's ”Hit of the Week” rotation. Dedication to music drove Mads to pack his bags, right after finishing secondary school, and head to the big city, Copenhagen. When he arrived, Mads discovered a progressive vibe that started a flood of creative juices. In a spiritual duet with his growing audience, it became evident that notes and chords had become more than simply a means of making a living. ”I live and breathe for music. It's the navigational instrument I use to make my way through life,” he says. ”A minute doesn't go by, not even a second, without a stream of new musical ideas or familiar phrases running through my head. My songs spring from that source.” The 25 year old Mads Langer is considered by many international music critics to be the next big breakout star from Denmark. In 2006 he released his debut album titled, Attention Please. Now he is ready with his second album simply titled 'Mads Langer'. The album is a result of a long journey. From the outskirts of Denmark to the capital Copenhagen, on to New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, back to Denmark, road tripping with his A-Z map and guitar towards various capitals around Europe playing in total more than 90 acoustic gigs for petrol money living on the profit from selling his album at the venues. "If I had lived in the faraway past, I would surely have been a wandering troubadour who braved the highways and byways of the realm, telling tales through my songs, about the breezes and storms, and singing heartfelt love songs to the beautiful noble ladies in their unreachable towers. Anyway, I live my life like a modern troubadour. I face the world with an open mind, guided by inspiration telling me whether to go left, right or straight ahead. Where it leads, time will tell. There are countless stories to tell, and I want to tell some of them through my music." Mads Langer says. He explains the decision of titling the album “Mads Langer” as wanting to cut to the bone of who he really is: "When my first album was released, I had only ever written about 20 odd songs. This time, I had more than 90 to choose from, when we were putting the album together" says Mads, who spend time experimenting with various genres in the process of writing. "I've written everything from punk to jazz, and I now feel that I got a sharp eye on well-functioning and present songs". Mads Langer considers this second album as a true Grand Tour he felt as a necessity following 'Attention Please': "I used to write songs on broad topics, like pseudo - political issues. Now I concentrate on more down to earth topics. I've had the need to knock myself off the podium and trash the shades alongside the attitude, and so far I've succeeded" says the exiled country boy, who has composed an even album with a heap of piano, acoustic guitar and his distinctive vocals. "You can find plenty of different moods, but there is also a significant red thread throughout the entire album" Mads thinks. The new album includes songs about broken hearts, isolation and dreams versus realities. Alike his debut album, Mads Langer has written all the material, but this time he has also worked with a bunch of international acknowledged song writers. Langers live performances are noted for leaving many in the audience in awe of his commanding performance and singing abilities. Langer is undoubtedly an artist on the brink of breaking into the global marketplace and his strength as a live performer will continue to help him build worldwide industry appeal and fans alike. The talented Dane has been in the A&R spotlight with majors in Europe and the East Coast since he released his debut album. Mads Langer just recently moved to London to focus on an international career.
