Jodie Steele- The Singer, The Dancer, The Performer and The Person
Jodie is an 18yr old singer from Basingstoke, Hants, and when not performing Jodie studies the Vocal Diploma at the Academy of Contemporary Music, works in a local, lively bar, enjoys playing sports such as football, running, swimming and attending the gym.
Jodie is a very outgoing, socially popular individual who takes pride in all that she does with her main goal being achieving her dreams, and despite always being there for friends and making time for the people she cares for, she never forgets her goal or fails to impress people. Continuously working towards her future, she attends a range of dance classes, singing tuition and performance workshops and spends her (very limited) free time working with local producers creating and writing new material, or taking already existing tracks and making them her own.
Jodie regularly performs live, having appeared within the same events as Kano, DJ Ironik, NDUBZ, DJ Luck and MC Neat and also centre stage at the recent ‘live music' festival in Basingstoke. She has recorded both cover versions and her own material- Jodie prefers to perform her ‘own stuff' but will happily give her own version of covers when required.
Local media interest includes radio- both Basingstoke and Reading, and regular mentions in the Regions major papers, either highlighting forthcoming appearances or an ever increasing amount of praise for performances given.
Although Jodie's undying ambition is to sing, Jodie has excellent dancing, choreography, acting and writing skills- many local artists such as The Author, XTC, Tempz and G2K have asked her to write, record and perform live with them.
Jodie studied at Brighton Hill Community College achieving 11 grade A*,A & B GCSE's, and being a big sports fan at this time of her life she also achieved a Junior Sports Leadership Award, was the captain of the girls football team, competed in the athletics, netball and rounder's team. However even though Jodie held most of her interests in sport, as she came to the end of her senior school life, she began to realise her love and drive for the performing arts world; it became a more important and preferred aspect in her life and therefore she has furthered her education both academically and most importantly to Jodie, artistically, having vocal tuition, performing dance with the contemporary/ theatrical company CULT and JLD commanding the Stage in both College productions and local drama groups, gaining leading roles in musicals such as Tommy, Peter Pan, Chicago, Joseph and The Technicolor Dream Coat and productions such as Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Macbett.
At Queen Mary's College Jodie achieved a Triple Distinction in Performing Arts, Distinction in the Dance Award, and also passed her Spanish, Music Theory and Fitness Asset courses.
Now at ACM, in Guildford, she is attaining a great deal of experience from weekly performances of both her own written material and covers of successful artists and songs. Her confidence continues to grow both on stage and with her knowledge of the music world both economically and theoretically.
Jodie's key influences are Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Eva Cassidy, Usher and Amy Winehouse preferring a more ‘urban scene' style of music listening to a range of genres from reggae, to soul to Indie, she has a natural affinity with people and was simply born to entertain; stepping up on the stage and offering her talent to the people i
