Right, where to start for the uninitiated? Jeans goes POP! Is essentially a one man band (bare with me here). Jeans plays piano / guitar and drums, using beaters to play with his feet. Sound odd? It's a case of see it to believe it!
The music itself is far removed from what you would expect of a one man band – jaunty piano riffs coupled with warm, expressive vocals and classic pop sensibilities (If at times slightly off kilter).
Jeans goes POP! was conceived early September 2006 by
Northumberland-born Paul Jeans after his previous band ‘thisband’ imploded. He has already been hotly tipped by the national and local music press after self releasing his debut album “In Glorious Technicolor” in 2007.
"A veritable musical octopus" Stephen Merchant - BBC 6 Music
"Bursting with ideas, the likes of 'Comes A Time' suggests Jeans goes
POP! is a songwriter of exquisite ability, tone and range" NME
"Possessed of a quirky showmanship that nestles somewhere between Ben
Folds and David Bowie ...he delivers his songs with genuine
heartiness" STOOL PIGEON
"Jaunty piano, toe-tapping beats and an exquisite voice: it's a
welcome break from the traditional singer-songwriter fare. A definite
one to watch - in every way." DROWNED IN SOUND
"gorgeous, infectiously trippy tunes delivered with what I can only
describe as tub-thumping gusto" NARC.
Dates with the likes of Kate Nash, The Cave Singers, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, The View, Son Of Dave, Annuals, YCNI:Milo to name but a few, and Radio play from the likes Of Steve Lamacq, Stephen Merchant and Rob Da Bank have continued interest from media and the music industry in general, Jeans goes POP! is exactly what British music has been missing for the last few years. An innovative and charismatic performer with perfectly crafted pop
songs that stick in your head.
