I Defy are a five piece metal/hardcore band hailing from the Swindon, Wiltshire. Members come from prestigious bands like Eternal Lord (Golf Records), Machine Made God (Metal Blade) and Romeo Must Die (IATDE Records).
I Defy was formed in September 2009. After recording some demo's the band signed a management deal with Enterprise Music Management before they even finalised their first line-up. Signing with EMM put I Defy on the same roster as bands such as Divine Chaos, Exit Ten, Avosetta, Tasters Choice and Martyr Defiled. As time went on and the first line-up was put together and finalised I Defy carried on writing their first EP - self titled as 'I Defy'. The EP actually consisted of 9 tracks. Reminiscent of the days where lyrical content was personal and heartfeld (both in melody and anger), the ‘I Defy’ EP was made to be a personal and initimate release all based in a concept created by the band. The concept encapsulated an unstable household, broken family and raw emotion. The material in the EP was created from personal experiences and emotions and then injected into this concept to make not just a good music but music with meaning- something which has been in decline over recent years in the music industry.
‘I Defy’ is a strong and uncomprimising debut release and was released on an Independent and 'one off' basis via Lockjaw Records. The bands first release 'I Defy' is available to buy via HMV, Amazon, Play.com, iTunes, CD Wow, Lockjaw Records and Plastic Head Distribution.
Always determined and working hard I Defy went to Germany in July 2010 to record with none other than Sky Van Hoff (Caliban, Machine-Made God, Kreator) and recorded a one off single 'Never Ending Lie'. During this time I Defy split from Enterprise Music Management and joined up with Adam Eunson from UK management titan 'Mantra Music Management'. MMM will make sure I Defy continue to be an unstoppable force. The date of release for 'Never-Ending Lie' is still to be announced and I Defy will also be announcing a full European Tour in support of their single and also to drive the band forward after their recent dates in Germany in late July 2010.
