All the best bands are formed out of necessity, and this was certainly the case with i!AMYOU. Championed by Huw Stephens their unique breed of angry, abstract pop music has seen them share bills with bands such as The Teenagers, Maths Class, Gay Against You, Let's Wrestle and So So Modern amongst others since their birth in February of this year. The only way to fully appreciate i!AMYOU is to see them live, they are often described as “completely refreshing” in a scene where the norm is “four sweaty boys, with floppy hair, standing around strumming their guitars aimlessly”. Previous live escapades have seen the band, streaking, smashing, screaming and generally leaving the crowd completely bemused. They truly are a joy to watch as they swap instruments effortlessly between 3 keyboards, guitars and various parts of drumkits. Influenced by bands such as Liars, Sonic Youth, Jeromes Dream, Les Incompetents and Deerhunter they manage to blend all these into a sound which is completely their own. They play their first two London gigs this month, and it has been suggested that their ramshackle yet epic performances are reminiscent of the very first klaxons gigs.
