With a 3 stringed guitar he found after an Edinburgh car boot sale he learned to play ‘stand by me’. A high school vocal coach led him to an enthusiastic brazilian percussion teacher which led him to experimenting and playing the Scottish Folk Club scene which led him to playing with Dougie MacLean, for a number of years as a backing vocalist. He recorded his debut album ‘and the girl with the strawberry…’ in Scotland 2004 in his friends bedroom, which was received well both publicly and by the press, being labelled as a ‘masterpiece of a debut’. In 2006 Fraser was ready to record his 2nd album and decided it was time to broaden out from the influences he was accustomed to, sold his house, everything he owned except 2 guitars and a piano, and with his partner, 3 children and the cat they drove for 3 days and nights until they arrived at a small cottage they had seen only on a website, in the south of France. His 2nd album was recorded in Paris, where he would spend the next few months. Currently they all live in the South of France where he is writing and about to start recording his 3rd album. Entitled ‘days with grace’ Flitting in between France and London, where he is rapidly gaining a reputation, he was approached by Radio 2 last year to record a session for Bob Harris, who described him as a “fantastic new discovery” and was “knocked out” by Fraser’s 2nd album ‘Coming up for air’.
