Music Glue - The Band Is The Brand

Distractors

Distractors are busy galvanizing their audiences this year with a busy gigging schedule. Distractors sound ranges from a blazing top end of high-velocity sugar rush anthems to dense, subterranean tribal rock without losing a single disciple from the dancefloor. The former is crystallised in their 2007 debut single, Last Stand. An ode to casual teenage vandalism, it hockeys along at such a Buzzcocks-breakneck pace you wonder if the band will reach the three minute mark in one piece.

But Conversation Killer reveals the dark, complex face of Distractors, a semi-acoustic slo-mo juggernaut glazed with sinister psychedelia that you can somehow still imagine humming on your way to work. Fans of the band's hyperkinetic powerpop will love the flip side, Poet Or Prophet.

The band will follow up the double A-side with the release of Manly With A Stanley, a urban nightmare swamp chant.

Tracks were recorded with Leo Pearson (U2, Elvis Costello, Howie B) in Thomastown, Kilkenny and mixed with Jim Spencer - producer of choice of Johnnie Marr, the Charlatans and New Order in the Charlatans studio, Manchester.
