Music Glue - The Band Is The Brand

Dirtblonde have just been formally invited to perform at SXSW 2009 in Austin, Texas... joining the selected few Liverpool bands who get to play at this prestigious festival (in 2008 it was just The Rascals, The Wombats and The Sonic Hearts)

It'll be great to bring the noise to the USA! Dirtblonde don't really fit with any current "scene"  in the UK, whatever they may be - and all the better for it! We're more like Sonic Youth, Patti Smith, and Jesus & Mary Chain mixed together... a Liverpool band with a NYC, CBGB's taste...we make dirty, scuzzy rock music. Pure rock'n'roll spirit, which most bands seem to lack nowadays.

Just recently, GIBSON USA, the world's biggest manufacturer of electric guitars, has published a feature about Liverpool, on their website, and they listed Dirtblonde as one of the TOP FIVE bands to watch in Liverpool in 2008 (alongside bigger names such as The Rascals, Ladytron and Elle S'Appelle).

Just search "cool scene alert liverpool" on google...

Amongst gigs we've played in the past we can list:   Leeds Festival 2006; Alan McGee's Death Disco and Queen Is Dead club nights; Carl Barat's Bright Young Things, and a tour of New York (including headlining set at Death Disco NYC @ The Annex); We were also one of the first people to organise a regular club night at Korova, Liverpool's coolest music venue, upon personal invitation from co-owners Ladytron.

Dirtblonde are currently on Filthy Little Angels, the small indie label who discovered bands  such as The Long Blondes and The Dykeenies. We released a CD, "White Noise, Rubber Heart" last year...we launched it with a gig at HMV in Liverpool (we were the 3rd band ever to play at the new Bold St. shop, after Maximo Park and The Wombats!)
