DanDanDan formed in 2006 at the University of St Andrews in Fife. If a place can be described as a musical blackhole, this is it.
The band consists of Midlander Richard Gilbert who plays the guitar and sings the words and sometimes plays keyboards and things like that; Mark Neville from Armagh who also plays the guitar and has pedals; Andrew Blair who is from Glasgow and makes the low noises and can on occasion be heard to shout; and Andy Parkinson who beats the bang boxes and hits the smash discs (i.e. the drums), he is from Preston in the North. Quite the bunch.
Having made the error of plugging their instruments in, the band spent a long while in the void writing scuzzy pop and obnoxious noise.
Following a brief haitus and a steady change of locale to Edinburgh, the band have begun writing more of their irreverent spazzery and making a racket.
Their gigs have been likened to Krakatoa, but not by anyone who was there.
