Choke
Born of the Glasgow, Scotland music scene in late 1993, Choke and its founding members David Aitken, Gary Bishop, Paul McCorkell and John Wilson made the jump stateside with the blessing and financial backing of independent Facsimilie Records by the fall of 1994. +++++++++++++++++++++ Early 1995 saw the release of the debut album, "Pure Choke" and much local acclaim in their new-found home of Orlando, Florida. +++++++++++++++++++ By mid 1996 and a freshly inked deal with Big Red Faces management a new EP, "Dammit Janet" was released. A simple exchange took place shortly thereafter and the band moved up a significant level. L.A.'s Goodboy Entertainment tied up exclusive rights to the band and formed a spectacular partnership with legal entertainment heavyweight Tommy Valentino. A new horizon was breaking. A series of sold out L.A. shows followed and major labels clamoured for air. National attention was gathering and momentum building...... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ There seemed to be no other way for the band to head than up, up ,up but there was upset looming.....Drummer John Wilson opted to return to the U.K. due to problems settling in the U.S........The band was wounded at the loss of such an integral part of the success and subsequently laid low to reconfigure and re-tool the operation +++++++++++++++++++ With the addition of drummer Erik Lievano and a flurry of shows from Nashville to Gainesville, the New millennium saw plans taking shape for a new independent release. Brett Hestla (Dark New Day/Creed) produced the sessions that became the 2000 release Unfashionably Late on Goodboy records. More touring ensued until 2002 when it was decided it was time to call a halt to Choke++++++++++++However in June 2010 Choke guitarist David Aitken received an email marked urgent in his inbox. The email was from Joe Skinner CEO of Florida Indepe
