Music Glue - The Band Is The Brand

Carmel Mikol

Cape Breton born singer/songwriter Carmel Mikol is a storyteller, crafting songs with a provocative blend of truth, fiction and wit. Her upcoming album “In My Bones” is an impressive collection of ten original songs produced by Fred Lavery at the award-winning Lakewind Sound Studio and Scott Ferguson at Ferguson Music Productions. Guided by folk/rock sensibility, the album features warm acoustics, catchy electric guitar and ethereal lap steel. Carmel’s laidback vocals carry the songs with heart and honesty and beneath her modern cynicism is the timeless voice of another great Canadian songwriter. The album is already garnering attention with “Sunny Days” and “Escape To You” being featured on CBC Radio and several commercial stations in the Atlantic region.

This summer, Carmel crossed Canada on the “Guess Who’s Driving? Tour” with fellow Halifax singer/songwriter Kim Wempe, playing 25 shows from Newfoundland to Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. In the fall, the tour wraps up with shows in major markets in New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario.

Earlier in 2009, Carmel released “Lost Lives EP” (available on iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazonmp3 and LaLa), showcased at the 2009 East Coast Music Awards and received Honorable Mention for her song “Twenty Something Girl” in the 12th Annual Unisong Songwriting Contest.
