Barnesy is the stage name of Thomas John Barnes. Born 14 October 1986, and raised until the age of 14 in Sutton Hill, a small, close-knit estate in the industrial area of Telford.
By April 2001 Barnesy had left school aged 15 and began to wander and divulge in what Birmingham had to offer. Picking up one of the many guitars left around the house, Barnesy began to write songs heavily swayed in the narrative.
This pattern continued into college where many attempts at band formations failed, paving the way for a career as a solo act.
At 17 Barnesy made his debut performance at The Actress and Bishop, one of the citys popular venues for aspiring acts, dipping their toe's into the live performance pool.
The coming years slowly built to regular slots across the city in venues like The Barfly, The Rainbow, The Actress and Bishop, Bar Academy, Hare and Hounds ...
Support slots amongst touring UK artists became available through solid gigging and building a decent fanbase. Gigs in London and Manchester have also followed with success.
In recent years, Barnesy has played alongside The Music, Mark Morriss, Hot Club De Paris, Roses Kings Castles and famous cannabis smuggler, welshman, Howard Marks.
