Formed in early 2010, Alms are an alt-rock group, equally in love with the raw sound of an electric guitar, and the gentle tones of an acoustic. Fronted by songwriters and vocalists Lawrence Pumfrey and Ollie Pash, the four-piece are fond of dynamic variety; equally happy singing hushed harmonies, as they are breaking into aggressive crescendos.
They've gigged extensively across the UK, and are currently working up to the release of their first EP.
Selected Press:
BBC INTRODUCING: 'They really caught my attention, I've been obsessed with their myspace all week...a real taste for melody.'
LIVE MUSIC SCENE.CO.UK: 'So young yet so talented, Alms gave us uplifting melodies with a trace of sadness at the edges. Watch out for these in the future'
MUSIC FROM A GREEN WINDOW: 'Their music creates a rich atmosphere...each song possessing a kind of gentle lilt that carries you through but refuses to rush...Alms are defined by their honesty – honestly emotional, honestly human and, honestly, they’re wonderful.'
