Alien Nation

ALIEN NATION is a chaotic, controlled, pretty, dynamic and explosive answer to current musical trends. Their music is a blend of psychedelic tunings, crunchy-nut distortion and grunge(y) guitar noize (Joey Flanagan, Luke Tomkins) shaped with intricate melodies, bullet-precise rhythms (David Williams) and throbbing, uncircumcised bass lines (Krist Tomkins). Their live show is always raw, tight-as-bolts, unpredictable and energetic, and they have been known to spread contagious dancing and mosh-pitting.

Beginning life in Ascape rehearsal studios, Bromley North, Sean Lynch, Luke Tomkins, Joey Flanagan and David Williams began putting together challenging music over the course of winter 2008 and played a show comprising of cover songs for a private party.  They recorded live demos at Antenna Studios, Crystal Palace, and played their first original show at Catch club, Shoreditch.

For personal reasons, Sean decided to leave the band, but he agreed to play one last show at The Railway Hotel, Bromley for Dialekt's Bank Holiday Birthday Bash alongside Silas.  The band was bassless only for a short period of time, as Luke's brother Krist Tomkins, took up the mantle of bass.  The band then re-recorded the demos and 5 new songs which became their first studio effort.  Their debut album "No Phun Intended" (2009) can be described as a blistering 9 track thrill ride of crunchy-nut cornflake fuzz, whirlwind rattlesnake guitar/bass rhythms and gigantic percussive power.

They went about playing several shows in support of their album, headlining a show at The Railway Hotel, and played the main support for Vinyl Black Stilettos at The Comedy Pub, Leicester Square.  The band also tried their luck at the Jam Raw! Battle of the Bands at The Forum, Tunbridge Wells.  The band then met with producer Alex Eyers and began work on recording their radical new material.  They are currently in the throws of putting finishing touches to their new EP.

Alien Nation are an original 4-piece Alternative & Punk group from Shortlands, Bromley.
