If there was an award for busiest band of the year, electrock kids 8 BIT LOVE would be one of the top contenders. From playing Pushover earlier this year, taking out the APRA Songwriters Award, releasing their debut EP and having their first single featured on Triple J Unearthed, these guys have hardly had the chance to breathe. Along with all that, the band relocated to Melbourne this year and also scored $3,000 to spend on music equipment as first prize winner in the Victoria Rocks Get Equipped Competition.
Having shared the stage with Young Heretics, Yves Klien Blue, Muscles, Ryan Meeking and the Few, The Statics, Girl Vs Ghost and Samson, 8 Bit Love are moving up in the world and are a name to keep your eyes on. Incorporating influences ranging from shoegaze to hip hop and everything in between, 8 Bit Love have the desire to do something different, have some fun and make people dance. With only three members in the band, incorporating guitar, synth, laptops, drums and percussion, their live show will no doubt get you moving.
Super Mario Lovers is the debut release from these fellas and features four great tracks from the band. Each piece of musical genius on the EP brings its own special something, whether that be the get-stuck-in-your-head catchiness of You Like It, the haunting vocals of Suave or the pounding dance beat of Hands Say Clap Clap. To get a taste of 8 Bit Love, head to your nearest Fist-2-Face or Polyester Records store, or purchase the EP online from Fist-2-Face or JB Hi Fi. Super Mario Lovers is also available for digital download from iTunes.
